Peter Beardsley believes Newcastle United Under-21s' recent trip to the Far East will improve the young Magpies as both people and players.
United reached the semi-finals of last weekend's Hong Kong Football Club Citibank Soccer Sevens, following some impressive performances in the small-sided competition.
But it wasn't just their conduct on the pitch which impressed Football Development Manager Beardsley, who believes they will reap the benefits of embracing a very different culture.
"They had a brilliant week in Hong Kong," he told nufc.co.uk.
"As well as the football side of things, we look for two things on a trip like this - their attitude and effort.
"They were brilliant around the hotel, brilliant around the football club and they were great ambassadors for out Club, so we are really proud of them.
"It's important to develop them as people as well as players.
"These are only young lads - teenagers - and they have to learn a lot of things, like how to entertain themselves when there is down-time in between training sessions and matches.
"There was a time difference and a very different culture to adjust to, so it was a great experience for them and one that they will learn and grow from."
