Lee Probert will take charge of Newcastle United's trip to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday in the Barclays Premier League (3pm kick-off).
It is the first time this season the Wiltshire-based whistler has overseen a Magpies' match, although coincidentally, he officiated United's last trip to Loftus Road - in May 2013 - which resulted in a 2-1 triumph thanks to goals from Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran.
So far during the 2014/15 campaign, the 42-year-old hs refereed 17 games across the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and FA Cup, issuing 57 yellow cards and four reds.
Probert began refereeing in 1986 in the local Bristol leagues, before working his way up the ladder and into the Football League in 2003.
He officially became a top-flight referee in the summer of 2007, but had already overseen his first Premier League fixture earlier that year as part of a trial.
Probert officiated the 2014 FA Cup final, which saw Arsenal come from two goals down to beat Hull City 3-2 at Wembley.
On Saturday at Loftus Road, Probert will be assisted by Ron Ganfield and Andy Garratt, with Neil Swarbrick the game's fourth official.
