It's Swarbrick Against The Swans

Written by Newcastle Utd

Neil Swarbrick will take charge of Newcastle's Barclays Premier League home fixture against Swansea

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Neil Swarbrick will take charge of Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League home fixture against Swansea City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

It is the second time the Lancashire-based official has refereed a Magpies' match this season, having been the man in the middle of September's 2-2 Tyneside draw against Hull City, which saw Papiss Cisse step off the bench to net a brace and earn United a point.

On that afternoon at St. James' Park, Swarbrick booked six players, including Sammy Ameobi, Fabricio Coloccini, Moussa Sissoko and Remy Cabella.

In total during the 2014/15 campaign, he has overseen 31 games across the Premier League, Championship, League One, FA Cup and Capital One Cup, issuing 123 yellow cards and four reds.

The 49-year-old whistler only took up refereeing at the age of 29, but within six years was promoted to the national list of assistant referees, and four years later was added to the referees list.

Swarbrick's first Premier League appointment came in December 2010, when he was the man in the middle of a goalless draw between Fulham and Sunderland.

On Saturday at St. James' Park, Swarbrick will be assisted by Peter Kirkup and Michael Salisbury, with Paul Tierney the game's fourth official.

Tickets for Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture at home against Swansea City are still available. To secure your seat at St. James' Park, click here.
