Newcastle's under-21s will look to end Derby County's five-match winning streak when the Rams come to St. James' Park on Wednesday (kick-off 7pm).

The visitors are second in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League second division but will face a strong United side under the floodlights at Gallowgate.

Siem de Jong will make his comeback from a collapsed lung while Argentine forward Facundo Ferreyra is also named in Peter Beardsley's squad.

Adam Armstrong, Adam Campbell and Callum Roberts also boast senior experience while Olivier Kemen and Jamie Sterry have both been on the first-team bench in recent weeks.

Admission is free for season ticket holders and Members, otherwise £3 for adults and £1 concessions.

Defender Macaulay Gillesphey is available despite his red card against Middlesbrough last week, as his suspension has not yet started.

Meanwhile, former Newcastle goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell could face his old club.

The Hartlepool-born shot-stopper, who made his second-string debut for United in January 2011 while still at school, was released by the Magpies last summer.

He's been on the bench for the Rams at first-team level on six occasions this term and Beardsley told nufcTV: "I know he's done really well for Derby. They're really pleased with him and good luck to him.

"He's a lovely, lovely kid. Woody (Andy Woodman) loved him, Chris Terpcou (Academy goalkeeper coach) loved him - we all loved him - but we have to make tough decisions."
