Adam Campbell made his return from a month-long lay-off on Tuesday evening, but couldn't help Gateshead inject new life into their promotion push.
The Heed were looking for a first win in four games at Dartford but fell behind to Jordan Chiedozie's goal as Campbell - back after an ankle injury - started on the bench.
Tom Allan equalised for the Tynesiders and boss Gary Mills introduced 20-year-old Campbell - who has scored three goals in four league starts since joining Gateshead in January - at the break.
But they could not find a winning goal as their Vanarama Conference play-off hopes took another dent.
Mills told Gateshead's official website: "Adam has come on at half time but he hasn't really got into the game - he isn't at 100 per cent fitness yet.
"We haven't won in four now and it's difficult for everybody connected with our club as our season is starting to dwindle away from us.
"But we have to keep going."
Jak Alnwick did not feature as Bradford lost 1-0 at home to Chesterfield in League One.
