Daryl Janmaat won his 24th international cap for Holland as they recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over Spain on Tuesday night.
The defender was deployed at right-back for the friendly fixture at the Amsterdam Arena, and caught the eye, keeping the likes of Isco, Santi Cazorla, Juanmi and Pedro quiet to record a clean sheet.
The Netherlands won it thanks to two goals in the space of three first-half minutes, with Stefan De Vrij heading home before Davy Klaassen bagged his first international goal.
Janmaat played the full 90 minutes, with Magpies teammate Tim Krul and unused substitute.
Elsewhere, Olivier Kemen captained France Under-19s to European Championship qualification with a 2-1 win over England.
The teenage midfielder, who made the Newcastle first team substitutes' bench for the first time against Arsenal less than two weeks ago, wore the number six shirt and played the full 90 minutes of the triumph, picking up a yellow card on the stroke of half-time.
Freddie Woodman was part of the Young Lions squad which faced Kemen and Co, but the highly-rated goalkeeper had to settle for a place among the replacements and was not called upon.
