Freddie Woodman has been called up by England for the upcoming European Under-19 Championship Elite Round qualifiers.

The 18-year-old, who has two caps for the Young Lions at under-19 having also represented his country at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level, is one of two goalkeepers named in Sean O'Driscoll's side for next week's trip to France.

Manchester City shot-stopper Angus Gunn - son of Norwich City legend Bryan - is the other 'keeper in the 18-man squad.

England kick-off the Elites against Denmark on Thursday, 26th March before facing Azerbaijan two days later. They play France in their final qualifier on Tuesday, 31st March.

Woodman, who helped England to win the European Under-17 Championships last summer, has been named on the bench for Newcastle's first team on several occasions this season.

The European Under-19 Championships will take place in Greece in July.

Woodman's call-up is further evidence of United's strength in the goalkeeping position; 16-year-old Paul Woolston is in the England under-17 squad for their European Championship qualifiers this month.

The full England under-19s squad is: Angus Gunn (Manchester City), Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United), Ben Chilwell (Leicester City), Ashley Smith-Brown (Manchester City), Joshua Aina (Chelsea), Brendan Galloway (Everton), Joe Gomez (Charlton Athletic), Kean Bryan (Manchester City), Teddy Bishop (Ipswich Town), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea), Charlie Colkett (Chelsea), Harry Winks (Tottenham Hotspur), Lewis Cook (Leeds United), Brandon Barker (Manchester City), Demarai Gray (Birmingham City), Patrick Roberts (Fulham), Bradley Fewster (Middlesbrough), Izzy Brown (Chelsea).
