Loan Watch: Alnwick Impresses In Bantams Bow

Written by Newcastle Utd

A round-up of United's players who were out on loan and in action over the weekend

Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick impressed on his Bradford City debut as the Bantams drew 1-1 at Notts County on Saturday.

The 21-year-old stopper, who joined the League One outfit on loan on Friday until the end of the season, was straight into the starting line-up for their trip to Meadow Lane.

And Alnwick played an important role in a decent away point, with some fine saves which keep Bradford on the verge of the play-off places.

In the Championship, Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles helped Nottingham Forest continue their rise up the table with a goalless draw at Leeds United.

The pair both played the full 90 minutes at Elland Road, with goalkeeper Darlow making a couple of impressive close-range stops to thwart the hosts.

The result leaves in-form Forest eight points off the top six, with nine games of the season remaining.

North of the border, Haris Vuckic bagged his third goal for Rangers - and his second in as many matches - but the Gers had to settle for a point at home to Livingston.

Vuckic found the bottom corner with a left-footed strike after just nine minutes of the Scottish Championship fixture at Ibrox, only for it to be cancelled out on the stroke of half-time by Ibra Sekajja. Slovenian international Vuckic lasted 72 minutes of the clash before being replaced.

In Italy, Davide Santon was a second-half substitute as Inter Milan came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with Cesena at the San Siro.

And in France, attacking midfielder Sylvain Marveaux played the first 80 minutes of a 2-1 victory at Nice in Ligue 1.

Finally, back on home soil in the Vanarama Conference, Adam Campbell was not involved as Gateshead triumphed 2-1 over Macclesfield Town at the International Stadium.
