Everton v Newcastle: Two Changes

Written by Newcastle Utd

At Goodison Park

Head coach John Carver has made two changes to his Newcastle United starting line-up for Sunday's trip to Everton in the Barclays Premier League (4pm kick-off).

Midfielder Jack Colback slots straight back in after completing a two-game suspension, while French forward Yoan Gouffran returns, having been a substitute in the Magpies' last two fixtures.

The pair replace Papiss Cisse - who starts a seven-game ban - and the injured Mehdi Abeid.

United are expected to line-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation at Goodison Park, with goalkeeper Tim Krul behind a back four of Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Ryan Taylor.

Colback will anchor the middle of the park with French powerhouse Moussa Sissoko, allowing a trio of Gabriel Obertan, Gouffran and Sammy Ameobi to provide plenty of creative threat going forwards.

And they will be tasked with supplying the ammunition for front man Emmnauel Riviere, who has two goals following his summer switch from Monaco.

On the substitutes' bench there are places for fit-again pair Remy Cabella and Rob Elliot, who have recovered from respective knee and thigh injuries.

And they are joined by forwards Ayoze Perez and Adam Armstrong, midfielder Jonas Gutierrez and Vurnon Anita, and defender Lubomir Satka.
