Ryan Predicts A Toffees Treat

Written by Newcastle Utd

Ryan Taylor believes United's trip to Goodison Park has all the makings of a top Premier League fixture

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Ryan Taylor believes Newcastle United's trip to Goodison Park this weekend has all the ingredients of a top Barclays Premier League fixture.

The Magpies have not kicked a ball in anger since a last-gasp home defeat against Manchester United nine days ago, while Everton's hectic schedule saw them face Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Toffees will be keen to put further distance between themselves at the top flight drop zone on Sunday, while Newcastle are desperate to fight back into the top half of the table.

And versatile midfielder Taylor - who has made six appearances this season after recovering from successive cruciate ligament injuries - is predicting a thriller.

"It has been a pretty hectic period, so a bit of time without a game wasn't a bad thing," the Scouser told nufc.co.uk.

"We've had a good rest, trained well and are looking forward to Everton.

"It's going to be a tough game because Everton are fighting. They are lower in the table than they would like - or expect - to be, and have had the Europa League to contend with as well.

"They are not doing so well in the league, and so are going to want to put in a good performance.

"We played well against Manchester United, created the best chances and deserved something from it, so we want to put that right. It sets it all up for a good game."
