Sissoko Disappointed By Red Devils Defeat

Moussa Sissoko spoke to nufc.co.uk after Newcastle's defeat against Manchester United

Newcastle United were denied a point against Manchester United on Wednesday night as a defensive mix-up led to a last gasp winner for the visitors at St. James' Park.

The Magpies looked set for a draw after Emmanuel Riviere's claims for a penalty were dismissed, but a late lapse paved the way for Ashley Young to net in the 89th minute.

Franch midfielder Moussa Sissoko spoke after the whistle about how he felt his team deserved more from the game, as well as an emotional return for Jonas Gutierrez.

"I think all the players and the manager are a little bit unhappy with the result," he told nufc.co.uk.

"I think we played very well overall. We tried to stay very compact and then break when we got the chance.

"We did have a lot of chances but we didn't take any of them and were punished when Manchester United scored in the last minute.

"After that the game was dead and we couldn't do anything else. I think a draw would have been a fair result.

"When you play against the big teams you have to play your best and of course one point would have been better than nothing.

"We as a team very hungry to score and to win but we need to learn about these big games and we need to go forward and try to win the next one.

"It was a big boost for everyone to have Jonas back on the pitch. He's been through a really bad experience.

"The fans were very happy that he was back and he played well for the 25 minutes that he was on the pitch. I hope he will be fit for the rest of the season.

"Our team objective remains to finish in the top ten this season. To play at Everton (next time out) will not be easy but we are going there for the win so we can come back with three points."
