United Supports Football V Homophobia
Written by Newcastle Utd
Newcastle United v Aston Villa has been confirmed as a designated Football v Homophobia game
Newcastle United has proudly designated Saturday's visit of Aston Villa a 'Football v Homophobia' (FvH) match as the club once again supports the campaign's annual month of action in February.
The FvH campaign, which is backed by The FA, Premier League and the Football League, unites fans, players, communities, grassroots teams, professional clubs and football authorities in opposing homophobia and prejudice against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the football family.
To demonstrate Newcastle United's continued support, FvH will have a presence across St. James' Park on matchday, with the campaign logo and messages of support on the cover and inside the matchday programme, on the stadium's giant screen and static poster sites and on the club's website and social media accounts.
Lou Englefield, campaign director at Football v Homophobia, said: "It's fantastic to see support again this year from Newcastle United for the Football v Homophobia campaign.
"Their designated game on Saturday is part of a great closing weekend to the 2015 Month of Action.
"We're hugely grateful for the club's support in promoting our message that football is for everyone."
Lee Marshall, PR and supporter liaison manager, said: "We are delighted to display our support for Football v Homophobia once again.
"Everyone at Newcastle United stands alongside the campaign and all supporters in opposing discrimination of all kinds.
"We ask supporters to continue making St. James' Park a fantastic, welcoming place to be for everybody and to report any instances of abuse or discrimination at the earliest opportunity."
To report any instances of abuse, discrimination antisocial behaviour at St. James' Park, supporters are advised to notify their nearest steward or police officer.
If it is unsafe to do so, supporters can text HELP followed by the stand, row and seat number of offending individuals to 60070.
