Mackenzie Heaney scored his first international goal as England under-16s lost 3-2 to Switzerland in the opening game of the UEFA Development Tournament at St. George's Park.

The talented 16-year-old - who has featured in Newcastle's FA Youth Cup run - started for Steve Cooper's side, who went in front after four minutes through Chelsea's Martell Taylor-Crossdale.

And Heaney, who hails from Walker, made it 2-0 to the Young Lions with a curling strike before half-time on Monday.

But Cendrim Kameraj pulled one back and Andi Zeqiri levelled, then Kameraj scored his second to win the game for the visitors.

England face Slovakia in their next game on Wednesday.
