Disabled young footballers are celebrating following a generous donation from North Tyneside-based construction company Southbay Civil Engineering.
The award-winning firm has made a donation to the Magpies' official charity, Newcastle United Foundation, in order to help fund a flagship football project for children and young people with disabilities, called Football for All.
Thanks to the project, 150 disabled young footballers have the chance to play football every week after school, with another 500 children playing in school time.
The Foundation has established a number of teams who represent Newcastle United including Down's syndrome, wheelchair football, visually impaired and cerebral palsy sides.
Gill Green, from Southbay Civil Engineering said: "We were blown away after visiting the visually impaired session at Walker Activity Dome.
"The course provides vital support for children with various disabilities. The Football For All project is a great chance for children to play football on a regular basis and gives them the chance to do so with players who have similar disabilities.
"It was fantastic to see the children enjoying themselves and hear how the group have developed in confidence and skill. We are proud to help fund such courses provided by the Foundation."
Head of Newcastle United Foundation, Kate Bradley, added: "We are delighted to receive this donation from Southbay Civil Engineering.
"Thanks to this funding even more disabled children can play football in the region without worrying about additional barriers such as transport, venue hire, kit and equipment."
The Foundation's football sessions for disabled children take place every week Walker Activity Dome. To find out more about these sessions, or any aspect of our Football For All project, click here.
