Papiss Cisse and Senegal exited the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, following a 2-0 defeat against Algeria.

Goals from Leicester's Riyad Mahrez and Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb secured the Group C triumph for Algeria, who qualify into the quarter-finals along with Ghana.

Cisse saw his first action of the tournament, entering the fray as a 54th minute substitute. The Magpies' leading scorer almost made an immediate impact as he was teed up by Mame Biram Diouf, but was robbed by a defender as he went to pull the trigger.

And despite some heavy late pressure, they were unable to salvage anything from the fixture, meaning an early exit for the Teranga Lions, who finished third in Group C.
