Adam Campbell made it three goals in his first two games for Gateshead on Saturday as the Heed drew with Wrexham in the third round of the FA Trophy.
The on-loan 20-year-old had scored twice on his debut at Nuneaton last weekend and was on target after 27 minutes at the Racecourse Ground to put Gary Mills' men 1-0 up.
Andy Bishop equalised for the hosts seven minutes later before Campbell had another strike chalked off for offside just before half time.
The flame-haired frontman was replaced by Jon Shaw after 68 minutes but there were no further goals and the Heed will now bring Wrexham back to the International Stadium for a replay.
Gateshead will hope to have Campbell's fellow Newcastle loanee, Callum Roberts, available for that match after he missed out through injury following a knock sustained in United's Under-21 Premier League Cup quarter-final defeat to Blackburn.
In 2011, Gateshead reached the semi-finals of the FA Trophy but lost 3-2 to on aggregate to neighbours Darlington, who went on to lift the cup at Wembley.
