Cheick Tiote and Ivory Coast kicked off their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-1 draw against Guinea on Tuesday.
In the Group A game, the Elephants fell behind in the 36th-minute when Mohamed Yattara volleyed home.
Ivory Coast's cause wasn't helped when ex-Arsenal striker Gervinho was issued a straight red card for a slap on Naby Keita, but they managed to force an equaliser through Seydou Doumbia's low strike which found the bottom corner.
Tiote played the full match and was booked in the 62nd minute for a foul on Kevin Constant.
On Monday, Senegal came from behind to grab a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Ghana, although United striker Papiss Cisse was an unused substitute.
Andrew Ayew fired Ghana into a first-half lead from the penalty spot in the Group C fixture, but the Terranga Lions responded after the break.
Stoke's Mame Diram Diouf headed them level just before the hour mark, before Moussa Sow scored the winner with almost the last kick of the game.
