Taylor Suffers Achilles Injury

Written by Newcastle Utd

Steven Taylor suffered an Achilles tendon injury in the draw with Burnley, John Carver has confirmed

Defender Steven Taylor has suffered an injury to his left Achilles tendon which is likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old was substituted in the 60th minute of Newcastle's 3-3 draw with Burnley and left St. James' Park on crutches.

And United's assistant manager, John Carver, confirmed the nature of the injury when he spoke to nufcTV after the match.

"Unfortunately there's bad news with Steven," he said. "It looks like he's snapped his Achilles tendon - the other one (to which he injured against Chelsea in December 2011).

"It's a fresh injury and I'm so disappointed for him because he got off to a great start.

"He's a good character and he'll deal with it. We'll make sure he's looked after and everything will be done properly."
