Written by Newcastle Utd

Emmanuel Riviere and Steven Taylor return to the United starting line-up for the visit of Burnley

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Caretaker-manager John Carver has made two changes to the Newcastle United starting line-up for Thursday's Barclays Premier League home fixture against Burnley (3pm kick-off).

Striker Emmanuel Riviere starts a top flight game for the first time since 20th September - against Hull City - and returns alongside centre-back Steven Taylor.

The pair replace Papiss Cisse, who begins a three-game ban, and Mike Williamson, who drops down to the substitutes' bench.

United are expected to line-up in a 4-4-2 formation, with goalkeeper Jak Alnwick behind a back four of Daryl Janmaat, Taylor, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Paul Dummett.

Cheick Tiote and Jack Colback will anchor the hosts' midfield at St. James' Park, with Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran on either flank.

And Riviere will be joined up top by five-goal Spanish starlet Ayoze Perez.

On the substitutes' bench there are places for Adam Armstrong, Remy Cabella, Vurnon Anita, Massadio Haidara, Davide Santon, Williamson and Freddie Woodman.
