Boss: 'December Will Shape Seasons'

United boss Alan Pardew is relishing the challenges that lie ahead in a hectic month of December

With the calendar set to turn into December and a hectic run of fixtures fast approaching, Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is relishing the challenges that lie ahead.

Once Saturday's trip to West Ham United is out of the way, seven games are scheduled next month across the Barclays Premier League and Capital One Cup, and Pardew believes December will shape the course of events not just for the Magpies, but for a lot of top flight teams.

"I think December will change everyone's season, as you can get a good clutch of points," he said.

"We've actually got a tough run in terms of games. We go to Burnley on Tuesday which is huge, and they are off the back of two wins so probably the worst time to go there.

"But it's great it's exciting and I can't wait for the next game."

United begin December with a midweek trip to the newly-promoted Clarets, before Chelsea come to St. James' Park on Saturday, 6th December.

Pardew then takes his troops to London twice in four days, first to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal in a Premier League clash on Saturday, 13th December, before Tottenham are the Magpies' opponents in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

A Tyne-Wear derby fixture against Sunderland precedes Christmas before the festive period is rounded off with fixtures at Manchester United on Boxing Day and at home to Everton on Sunday, 28th December.
