Newcastle's second-string entertain Crewe Alexandra in the Under-21 Premier League Cup's round of 32 on Monday evening (kick-off 7pm) with Peter Beardsley hoping that his side can match the cup exploits of United's first-team this season.
A Capital One Cup quarter-final tie at Tottenham is looming large for Alan Pardew's side, who won at Manchester City in the last 16 having already knocked out Crystal Palace and Gillingham.
Beardsley's boys, meanwhile, are top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League second division and reached the semi-finals of the Techflow Group Northumberland FA Senior Cup with a 7-0 victory over Team Northumbria last week.
And, ahead of Monday's cup clash at Whitley Park, Football Development Manager Beardsley told nufc.co.uk: "When you look at the first team and what they've done to get to the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup, it gives everybody a lift within the Club."
Newcastle's senior side have won each of their last six games in all competitions and Saturday's 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers was achieved with four Academy products - Paul Dummett, Tim Krul, Sammy Ameobi and Adam Armstrong - on the pitch.
Remie Streete was on the bench while Callum Roberts was also part of Pardew's matchday squad as United's youth policy continues to pay dividends.
Crewe have a proud reputation of their own when it comes to producing young talent, with the likes of David Platt, Rob Jones and Danny Murphy among their famous old boys.
And Beardsley said: "They're a bit like us in their beliefs. They want to produce footballers and they do it right.
"Dario Gradi over the years has done it right and I know they still follow the same beliefs, so credit to them for that.
"And we might even have an old player coming back in Brad Inman, who has been out of the team lately because he's been injured. If he's fit, he might be playing on Monday and it would be nice to see him because Brad's a good lad.
"Football's like that - it's amazing who you bump into. It's great when you see people you used to work with or play with."
Admission on Monday night is £3 for adults and £1 concessions (under-16s and over-65s). Season ticket holders and Members can gain free entry on production of their card.
