Boss Beaming At Recent Displays

Alan Pardew has been impressed with his side's recent performances, as they prepare to face West Brom

In the midst of Newcastle United's current run of fine form, manager Alan Pardew has been impressed with his side's recent performances.

After four consecutive wins in all competitions - against Leicester, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool - the Magpies' squad is brimming with confidence ahead of Sunday's trip to West Bromwich Albion.

And Pardew is looking for his players to maintain their positive mentality and extend their winning streak at the Hawthorns.

"We have deserved the victories that we have had and we have given ourselves and the fans confidence that we can grow," explained the boss.

"We have a lot of young players in the group and they are really benefiting from this spell. There hasn't really been a secret ingredient for this run but it's about doing the right things enough of the time.

"We were doing that at the beginning of the season but not getting the results, so I was confident that if we got a win then we could get the points we desperately needed.

"I didn't think we could play to the level that we have been but that has been a really nice surprise."

United travel to the West Midlands on Sunday to face a Baggies side who have produced a solid start to the campaign, with 13 points from their ten games to date - the same tally as Newcastle.

And Pardew knows his troops are going to have to be at their best if they are to secure another away-day victory.

"We have trained well this week and I think the team would have preferred a (midweek) game really when you're on a roll, but we are preparing as best as we can for West Brom on Sunday," he added.

"West Brom are probably the hardest working team in the Premier League so we are going to have to match that intensity."
