Magpies Reduce Old Trafford Trip By A Tenner

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle have reduced all tickets for the Magpies' Premier League fixture at Manchester United on Boxing Day

Newcastle United will ease the financial burden on supporters travelling to the Club's Barclays Premier League fixture with Manchester United on Boxing Day by reducing all away tickets by £10.

As well as the usual costs associated with the festive period, supporters face significant travel disruptions around the fixture at Old Trafford, with no train services in operation between the North-East and Manchester on Friday, 26th December.

After gathering feedback from away fans' representatives on the Club's official Fans Forum, Newcastle will now use part of its ring-fenced away fans fund to subsidise ticket prices to benefit everyone making the journey.

Around 3,000 Newcastle supporters travelled to the same fixture last season to see the Magpies earn a memorable 1-0 victory - their first win over the Red Devils at Old Trafford since 1972.

Lee Marshall, PR and supporter liaison manager at Newcastle United, said: "Newcastle's visit to Old Trafford is always hugely-popular with our fans but it does present real challenges for many this season with the fixture taking place on Boxing Day.

"In anticipation of any issues, we consulted members of the Fans Forum - including those who frequently travel to away games from both Newcastle and other locations - and the unanimous response was that a ticket subsidy would benefit as many supporters as possible.

"The away fans fund is designed to make it as easy as possible for supporters to travel to watch their team so we hope the £10 discount will really help again."

The £10 subsidy being offered by the Club is the second arrangement of its kind this season, with the Magpies also discounting all away tickets for the 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur in October by the same figure. Visits to Arsenal and Stoke City were also subsidised by £10 last season.

In addition to ticket subsidies, the Club has also driven down the price of away tickets by agreeing reciprocal ticket price deals with five top-flight clubs during the 2014/15 campaign; Southampton, Stoke City, Swansea City, Everton and West Bromwich Albion.

The Magpies' reciprocal pricing deals were introduced during the 2013/14 season and offer away fans travelling to league fixtures at St. James' Park cheaper match tickets in return for the same arrangement for Newcastle fans attending the corresponding away fixture. Supporters have made savings of up to 77 per cent.

REVISED PRICES AND HOW TO BUY

Revised ticket prices will now be £35, £36 and £45 for adults; £25.75, £26.50 and £33.25 for those aged 18-20; £16.50, £17 and £18 for 16-17s/over 65s and £8 for all under 16s. Tickets will be sold in block order as imposed by Manchester United.

Tickets go on sale to season ticket holders with 50+ loyalty points on Friday (7th November) and season ticket holders with 25+ loyalty points from Monday (10th November).

Season ticket holders with zero loyalty points can purchase remaining tickets from Thursday, 13th November, before a Members sale period begins on Wednesday, 19th November, subject to availability.

Tickets can be purchased via www.nufc.co.uk/tickets, by calling 0844 372 1892 or in person at the stadium Box Office on the first floor of the club retail store.

Supporters are reminded that all fixture dates and times remain subject to change.
