Heaney Keeps England Place

Written by Newcastle Utd

Mackenzie Heaney has been named in England's latest Victory Shield squad while Owen Gallacher has received another Scotland call-up

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Newcastle's Mackenzie Heaney has kept his place in England's squad for Friday's Victory Shield game against Northern Ireland.

The 15-year-old - who represented Scotland in last year's competition - made his Three Lions bow as a 55th minute substitute against Wales in Bangor last week.

England lost 1-0 but Heaney did enough to earn a recall and will link up with the squad at St. George's Park this week.

Steve Cooper's youngsters face Northern Ireland in Dungannon and play their third and final match of the tournament against Scotland later this month.

That game could see Heaney and his Magpies team-mates Owen Gallacher line up against each other.

Gallacher - son of former Newcastle forward John - played for the Tartan Army in their opening game against Northern Ireland and he's been named in the squad for Friday's fixture against Wales.
