Anthony Taylor will take charge of Newcastle United's trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday (1.30pm kick-off).
It is the first time the Manchester-based official has overseen a Magpies' match this season, although Taylor refereed two Newcastle fixtures last term - home defeats against Cardiff in the FA Cup and Swansea in the league, the latter as a first-half substitute.
On that afternoon against the Swans at St. James' Park, Taylor - who entered the fray in the 32nd minute for the injured Chris Foy - booked two players, Dan Gosling and Cheick Tiote.
In total during the 2014/15 campaign, Taylor has been in the middle of eight fixtures across the Champions League, Europa League and Barclays Premier League, handing out 35 yellow cards, no reds and awarding one penalty.
The 36-year-old started refereeing in the Northern Premier League in 2002, and worked his way up through the divisions before being appointed to the Football League list at the start of the 2006/07 season.
His first Premier League appointment came in February 2010, when Fulham beat Portsmouth 1-0, and the whistler was promoted to the Select Group of Referees for the start of the following term.
Taylor became a FIFA listed referee in January 2013, making him eligible to officiate UEFA European and FIFA international competitive games, and at the end of that season he was fourth official for the FA Cup final.
On Sunday at White Hart Lane, Taylor will be assisted by John Brooks and Ian Hussin, with Roger East the game's fourth official.
