Magpies Take On Consett

Written by Newcastle Utd

A young Magpies squad will face Northern League Consett in a friendly at Belle View on Thursday night

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

A young Newcastle side will face Northern League neighbours Consett on Thursday (kick-off 7pm).

Peter Beardsley's team will make the relatively short trip to Belle View for the friendly, with the line-up expected to be similar to the one which beat Heaton Stannington 8-1 last week.

The likes of Tom Heardman, Ryan McKinnon, Greg Olley, Liam Gibson and Dan Ward played that night.

Belle View boasts an all-weather artificial surface and Newcastle provided the opposition at the ground's opening match in November last year, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Adam Campbell and Jamie Cobain.

United also faced Consett in the final match at their old Belle Vue Park in May 2013.

Admission is £6 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 under-16s.
