Loan Watch: Duo Feature In Forest Draw

Written by Newcastle Utd

A round-up of United's loan stars who were in action over the weekend at home and abroad

Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow both featured as Nottingham Forest continuted to fly high in the Championship with a 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Darlow started in between the sticks for the Reds at the City Ground, while centre-back Lascelles was introduced from the substitutes' bench in the 29th-minute.

At that point, Forest were one down, after Daryl Murphy cut inside a couple of defenders and curled past Darlow.

The hosts levelled after the break through Robert Tesche's header, but Ipswich edged back in front again when Murphy nodded home a cross. And Forest kept their unbeaten start in the league in tact when Michail Antonio header a dramatic 94th-minute equaliser.

In the Barclays Premier League, Hatem Ben Arfa was an unused substitute as Hull City beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at the KC Stadium.

It was a similar story for teenage goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, who was a spectator from the bench as Hartlepool United went down 3-0 at home to Carlisle United in League Two. It was a result which spelt the end of manager Colin Cooper's reign in charge of Pools.

In the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Jonathyn Quinn was a last-minute substitute for Blyth Spartans in their 4-3 victory away at Belper Town.

The 19-year-old forward is on a work experience loan to Spartans, meaning he can still appear for United at under-21 level.

Across the Channel in Ligue 1, midfielder Sylvain Marveaux played the full 90 minutes for Guingamp but was unable to prevent his side suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Nantes.

And finally, in Italy's Serie A, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa's Roma went down 3-2 away at fellow high-flyers Juventus in a dramatic clash in Turin.

Carlos Tevez scored twice for Juve, with Francesco Totti and Juan Iturbe on target for the visitors. And it looked as though Roma were heading for a share of the spoils until Leonardo Bonucci netted a stunning volley from distance with just four minutes remaining.
