Cisse Hails "Best Fans"

Papiss Cisse has paid tribute to the Newcastle supporters and urged them to keep on believing in the players

Papiss Cisse paid tribute to the "best fans" in the country after his two goals against Swansea - and urged them to keep on believing in the team.

Newcastle are still looking for a first league win of the season but were backed by another superb away following at the Liberty Stadium.

And those supporters were rewarded with a never-say-die performance as the Magpies twice fought back from a goal down to earn an important point.

"In England, Newcastle fans are the best fans," Cisse told nufcTV. "I know it's hard for the players, for the gaffer, for the fans but I just say 'keep going and believe.'

"This team is for the Newcastle fans. Believe in the players and it will come good, because the team works for this."

Cisse himself has been through some tough times, as he struggled for form last season and missed the beginning of the current campaign through injury.

But he never doubted himself and has scored four goals in three matches since making his comeback against Hull last month.

"I keep going and I believe in myself," he explained.

"If I have a chance to play, I enjoy all the game, be strong and work hard. And if I have a chance to score, I score. (On Saturday) I had only two chances and I scored these two."

Cisse's decisive second goal was created by substitute Sammy Ameobi while his first was laid on by Gabriel Obertan.

"It was a difficult finish but all week the team worked on this situation and I know Gaby does this all the time. He played well and gave one goal for the team.

"I'm so happy for him and it's the same for Sammy as well. He did very well. If you do something in training and it comes through in the game, you say 'well done.'

"If there's only one cross, I need to be there. (At Swansea) it was two times and two times I was there."
