Cheick Tiote insists his is committed to Newcastle United and is fully focussed on helping the Magpies climb the Premier League table.

The Ivorian international midfielder missed the whole of pre-season and the early part of the 2014/15 campaign through a hamstring injury, before making his comeback at Southampton last month.

Tiote, who was named United's joint vice-captain over the summer along with new signing Siem de Jong, has since been a regular in the heart of Alan Pardew's side.

And, responding to recent newspaper reports regarding his future, the 28-year-old says he is happy on Tyneside and desperate to help the Club improve their current top flight standing.

"I saw the quotes that appeared yesterday, but they are not accurate," Tiote told nufc.co.uk, ahead of Saturday's trip to Swansea.

"Yes, there was some interest in me over the summer and that can be a bit distracting, but nothing came of it.

"I'm back to full fitness and only thinking about doing my best for the team. We are not in a good position in the league right now and I want to get us up to where we should be.

"I am as committed as I have ever been to Newcastle."
