Trio Ruled Out Of Palace Trip

Written by Newcastle Utd

Three players have been ruled out of Wednesday's Capital One Cup tie at Crystal Palace due to illness

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Alan Pardew will be without Tim Krul, Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran for Wednesday night's Capital One Cup tie at Crystal Palace.

Krul and Gouffran both started Saturday's 2-2 with Hull City while Cisse came from the bench to score twice.

But all three have been struck by a sickness bug this week.

The trio reported to Newcastle's Benton training ground but were sent home to recover and will not travel to Selhurst Park.

As a result, Rob Elliot is likely to make his first appearance of the season in goal while Jak Alnwick - who played in Monday night's 2-1 Barclays Under-21 Premier League win at Arsenal - is expected to be part of the squad.
