Colo Thanks Fans For Jonas Support

Fabricio Coloccini paid tribute to the St. James' Park faithful for their support of United star Jonas Gutierrez

Captain Fabricio Coloccini paid tribute to the St. James' Park faithful for their support of United star Jonas Gutierrez in Saturday's home draw with Hull.

The Argentine midfielder's name rung out around the Tyneside stadium for large spells of the Barclays Premier League fixture, following the news earlier this week that Gutierrez is battling testicular cancer.

Before the match, the Magpies wore T-shirts with a message to their teammate - who is currently being treated in his homeland - while two-goal hero Papiss Cisse also revealed a top for Gutierrez in his celebrations.

Following the final whistle, Coloccini said: "He sent me a text straight away after the game saying 'thank you very much for everything' - for Papiss and the fans as well.

"He was emotional. I think it was very nice for him, and he wanted to thank everyone.

"At the beginning of the match when we came on to the pitch, it was a bit hard for me as well.

"I spent a lot of time with him here, the other players as well. He spent a lot of time here. He gave 100 per cent. He was very professional.

"It's tough to see what is happening with him. We gave everything to support him."
