After he starred in France's 1-0 win over Spain last week, Alan Pardew sang the praises of Magpies man Moussa Sissoko.
The 25-year-old had a hand in the winning goal, which was scored by former United loanee Loic Remy, as Les Bleus triumphed over a Spanish side featuring Sergio Ramos, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.
Just a couple of days later, Sissoko then went on to play a key role in a 1-1 draw against Serbia, to build on an impressive World Cup showing with his country this summer.
And Newcastle boss Pardew hailed the performances of his midfield powerhouse, who is likely to feature in Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at Southampton (3pm kick-off), stating the international break has proved successful - providing Cheick Tiote returns unscathed from the Ivory Coast's games against Sierra Leone and Cameroon.
"Moussa was probably the man of the match against Spain, so that was a massive lift for him because this year he really looks like he's come on again," said Pardew
"I think he's a mainstay of that French side and that's where Remy (Cabella) wants to get to. We've had a good international break and hopefully Cheick (Tiote) will come back tomorrow ok."
