INTERNATIONALS: More Game Time For Tiote

Written by Newcastle Utd

Cheick Tiote received more game time but couldn't prevent Ivory Coast slipping to defeat against Cameroon

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Cheick Tiote received more game time on Wednesday but couldn't prevent Ivory Coast slipping to a 4-1 defeat against Cameroon.

Midfield enforcer Tiote played the full 90 minutes in Saturday's victory over Sierra Leone, and was handed another starting spot in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Yaoundé - his 43rd international cap.

Braces from Clinton Njie and Vincent Aboubakar sealed the Indomitable Lions' victory, with Manchester City star Yaya Toure briefly pulling the Elephants level at one early stage.

But the result was Ivory Coast's heaviest defeat in more than a decade.
