INTERNATIONALS: Colback Returns To Tyneside

Jack Colback has returned to Tyneside after failing to recover from the calf injury which kept him out of England's victory over Norway

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Jack Colback has returned to Tyneside after failing to recover from the calf injury which kept him out of England's friendly victory over Norway on Wednesday.

The uncapped United midfielder was expected to remain with the Three Lions squad and be in contention for Monday's European Championships qualifier against Switzerland.

But national boss Roy Hodgson confirmed the 24-year-old is back in Newcastle, where he will receive treatment from the Club's medical staff.

"Jack Colback has had to leave us," explained Hodgson.

"He took a very nasty kick on the back of the calf.

"We were hoping he would train with us, but he can't do that, so it's better to send him back to Newcastle."
