Wonga Extends Women's Sponsorship

Written by Newcastle Utd

Wonga has extended its sponsorship of Newcastle United Women's Football Club (NUWFC) for another season

Wonga has extended its sponsorship of Newcastle United Women's Football Club (NUWFC) for another season.

Wonga has been the club's principal sponsor since 2013, when it became the first official Newcastle United club sponsor to also back the women's team.

The new sponsorship deal was unveiled at half-time of the Magpies' Barclays Premier League home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday, when the women's team also unveiled their new home kit on the St. James' Park pitch.

Trevor Benjamin, manager of NUWFC, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Wonga is continuing to give their support to the team.

"It's vital to the development of women's football that companies have the vision and interest to support teams like ours.

"Our players are all amateur and have to combine their normal day jobs with playing for NUWFC, but having names like Wonga on board helps to raise our profile and that of the sport."

Damian Peachey, Wonga's head of external relations, added: "We are passionate about our support for both Newcastle teams and are delighted to partner with the women again in 2014."
