Siem de Jong makes his full Barclays Premier League debut as Newcastle United entertain Crystal Palace at St. James' Park (3pm kick-off).

The Dutch international arrived from Ajax in the summer but picked up a calf injury in pre-season and missed the Magpies' opener against Manchester City a fortnight ago.

A cameo off the substitutes' bench last weekend at Aston Villa was followed by more than an hour in Tuesday's Capital One Cup victory at Gillingham, and having come through both unscathed, de Jong is now handed his first start in the top flight.

He is one of two changes to the starting line-up from that goalless draw at Villa Park seven days ago. The other sees Massadio Haidara come in at left-back, with Vurnon Anita and Paul Dummett dropping down to the bench.

United are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with goalkeeper Tim Krul protected by a back four of Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Haidara.

Moussa Sissoko and England new boy Jack Colback will anchor the hosts' midfield, allowing a trio of Remy Cabella, de Jong and Yoan Gouffran to provide the ammunition for French forward Emmanuel Riviere.

On the substitutes' bench there are places for Dummett and Anita, and they are joined by Ayoze Perez, Rolando Aarons, Gabriel Obertan, Steven Taylor and Rob Elliot.
