Mike Jones will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It is the first time this season the Cheshire-based official has been in charge of a Magpies' match, and only his second outing of the 2014/15 campaign.
Jones' only previous game this term was a 2-2 opening day draw between Leicester and Everton at the King Power Stadium, in which the whistler booked two players.
The 46-year-old was promoted to the Football League list of referees in 1997 and went on to take charge of the League Two play-off final and FA Trophy in 2007, before moving into the Select Group which officiates in the top flight.
In May 2012, he was the fourth official for referee Phil Dowd at the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool.
On Saturday at St. James' Park, Jones will be assisted by Stuart Burt and Mark Scholes, with Kevin Friend the game's fourth official.
