United's youngsters begin their Barclays Under-18 Premier League campaign on Saturday with a clash against local rivals Sunderland.

And Dave Watson's side will be hoping for a repeat of last season, when they recorded a league double against the Black Cats as well as thrashing the Wearsiders 4-0 in the FA Youth Cup.

England under-17 starlet Freddie Woodman is set to start in goal while midfielder Jordan Storey is fit again after missing the second half of last season due to injury.

Mackenzie Heaney is also involved after being called up to the England under-16 squad earlier this week while Ben Drennan will line up against the side he supported as a boy.

Kick-off at the Academy of Light in Cleadon is at 11am.

The squad is: Kyle Cameron, Luke Charman, Jamie Cobain, Ben Drennan, Liam Gibson, Mackenzie Heaney, Jamie Holmes, Jack Hunter, Louis Johnson, Sean Longstaff, Michael Newberry, Brendan Pearson, Ben Pollock, Jordan Storey, Freddie Woodman.
