The Moor The Merrier At Brewery Field

Written by Newcastle Utd

Shane Ferguson and Gael Bigirimana are part of Peter Beardsley's Newcastle United under-21 squad to face Spennymoor on Wednesday

Newcastle's under-21s take on Spennymoor Town at the Brewery Field on Wednesday (kick-off 7.30pm), with Gael Bigirimana and Shane Ferguson both part of Peter Beardsley's squad.

And last season's Northern League Division One champions - who, like the Magpies, play in black and white stripes - are hoping for a good crowd for United's visit.

Newcastle last came to the Brewery Field in July 2011, with the attendance of 1,127 their highest in 15 years at the time. Bradden Inman and Nile Ranger both scored twice in a 4-2 away win.

The two sides met at Newcastle's Little Benton Academy last summer, with the Magpies winning 4-3 thanks to a brace for Jonathyn Quinn and goals from Tom Heardman and Remie Streete.

Quinn and Heardman are both involved this time around while French midfielder Olivier Kemen will continue his comeback after injury.

And defender Callum Williams - born just a few miles from Spennymoor in Bishop Auckland - is also included.

Admission is £4 for adults and £2 concessions.

The squad is: Daniel Barlaser, Gael Bigirimana, Ben Drennan, Shane Ferguson, Macaulay Gillesphey, Alex Gilliead, Tom Heardman, Olivier Kemen, Greg Olley, Jonathyn Quinn, Callum Roberts, Liam Smith, Callum Williams, Freddie Woodman.
