Summer signing Daryl Janmaat makes his first appearance of pre-season, as Newcastle United travel to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

The Dutch World Cup star arrived from Feyenoord in July and, having joined up with his new teammates last week will get a chance to impress at right-back in a strong Magpies line-up at the John Smith's Stadium.

Manager Alan Pardew also hands a starting spot to striker Facundo Ferreyra, signed from Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday, and they are joined by fellow new boys Jack Colback, Remy Cabella and Emmanuel Riviere.

United are expected to start in a 4-4-2 formation, with goalkeeper Tim Krul behind a back four of Janmaat, Mike Williamson, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Massadio Haidara.

Yoan Gouffran and Cabella will take up roles on either flank, with Moussa Sissoko and Colback patrolling the middle of the park.

And it will be a front pairing of Ferreyra and Riviere, with the latter having already netted twice during pre-season.

On an eight-man substitutes' bench there are places for youngsters Rolando Aarons, Ayoze Perez, Paul Dummett and Mehdi Abeid, and they are joined by Steven Taylor, Gabriel Obertan, Rob Elliot and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
