Emmanuel Riviere revealed he has seamlessly settled in to life as a Newcastle United player, following an eye-catching first outing for the Magpies.
The French striker arrived from Monaco less than a week ago and had only had three training sessions with his new teammates prior to Tuesday's pre-season friendly against Sydney FC in Dunedin, New Zealand.
But Riviere hit the ground running, teeing up Siem de Jong for United's opener in a 4-0 win, and netting the second himself by sweeping home a Yoan Gouffran centre.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Adam Armstrong completed the comfortable victory over their A-League opponents, and Riviere was all smiles when he spoke to nufc.co.uk at the final whistle.
"I enjoyed my first game - it was good to play with my new team," said the 24-year-old.
"It was a good match, we played well and we played as a collective. We won, so that was good for our preparations for the new season.
"I was so tired in the second half but I was very happy with how the game went because it was my first game, and I scored and gave an assist to Siem.
"I am comfortable here already. Everybody has been really nice to me and made me feel very welcome.
"The French guys have helped me settle in and all the staff have been great. I know I am really going to enjoy playing for Newcastle."
