Newcastle United have completed the signing of Netherlands World Cup star Daryl Janmaat.

The 24-year-old right-back arrives from Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a six-year deal at St. James' Park.

Janmaat began his career with fellow Magpie Tim Krul at ADO Den Haag, before a switch to Heerenveen in the summer of 2008.

He lifted the Dutch Cup in his first season and made 100 appearances over the course of four seasons, before moving on to Feyenoord.

During the last two seasons, Janmaat has turned out 74 times in the famous red, white and black of the Dutch giants, scoring five times in the process.

The attack-minded defender is also an established international, winning 21 senior caps to date, with five of those coming as Holland finished third in this summer's World Cup.

Janmaat said: "Newcastle is a fantastic club, with a big history and a great stadium. I have also been told all about how great the fans are.

"This is the perfect move for me, and I am really looking forward to being with the team and getting started here at Newcastle.

"I think we are going to have a great season."

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said: "We are delighted to bring Daryl to the Club.

"He is the perfect example of a modern full-back; someone who is good defensively but offers a real threat going forward as well.

"Daryl had an excellent World Cup and we are looking forward to him continuing that form for Newcastle."

Season tickets for Newcastle United's 2014/15 campaign are on general sale. To secure your seat at St. James' Park for the whole season, click here.
