Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy has completed his transfer to Arsenal for an undisclosed fee

Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy has completed his transfer to Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.

Debuchy, aged 28, who turns 29 at the end of this month, signed for the Magpies from French side Lille in January 2013 and went on to make 14 appearances in the black and white stripes that season.

In total during his time on Tyneside, the defender played 43 Premier League games for Newcastle, scoring once, as well as making three appearances in the Capital One Cup.

Debuchy represented France in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, helping his nation to a quarter-final berth before they were beaten by eventual winners Germany.

The Club wishes to place on record its thanks to Mathieu for his efforts during his time at Newcastle. He leaves with all our best wishes for his future at Arsenal.
