Everything you need to know about Newcastle United's new signing Emmanuel Rivière

 

- Rivière was born on 3rd March, 1990, in Le Lamentin, a town in the French island of Martinique, in the eastern Caribbean Sea.

- The forward, who can play either in a wide role or through the middle, started playing football for local side Espoir Sainte-Luce before switching to Saint-Étienne in 2005.

- Emmanuel was turning out for Saint-Étienne's reserves at the age of 16 and put pen to paper on his first professional contract in the summer of 2008.

- His professional debut arrived in January 2009, as the front man played the full 90 minutes in a French Cup tie against Bordeaux.

- Rivière made 12 appearances in total that season, and went on to establish himself as a regular for Saint-Étienne over the next two years.

- He secured a switch to Toulouse in July 2011, where he played alongside current United star Moussa Sissoko, and lasted 18 months at the club before Monaco came calling.

- Moving to Monaco in January 2013, Emmanuel fired four goals to help the red-and-whites to the Lique 2 title, before netting 13 goals in 36 appearances in their first year back in the top flight last term.

- The 24-year-old has represented France at every level from under-16 through to under-21 but is yet to win a senior international cap.
