Old Boys Help QPR Back To Top Flight

QPR have returned to the Barclays Premier League at the first time of asking - thanks to some former Newcastle players

Queens Park Rangers have returned to the Barclays Premier League at the first time of asking - thanks to some former Newcastle United players.

The R's were 1-0 winners over Derby in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday, thanks to a last-gasp Bobby Zamora strike.

Ex-Magpies Joey Barton and Danny Simpson started for Rangers and played key roles in their triumph, while defender Aaron Hughes - who made nearly 300 appearances for United over nine years - was an unused substitute.

Another former Newcastle man, Jermaine Jenas was part of the QPR Wembley party but is currently sidelined by a cruciate ligament injury.
