Newcastle United youngster Alex Gilliead has been named in the England Under-18 squad to face Germany next month.

The Young Lions take on Germany at Rotherham United's New York Stadium on Wednesday, 16th April (7.30pm kick-off) and Gilliead will be hoping to win a second cap at this level, having made his bow in February against Belgium.

The winger, who captained United's under-18s in their run to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, is part of a 17-man England squad selected by head coach Neil Dewsnip.

Shotley Bridge-born Gilliead has previously been capped eight times for England's under-17s and four times for the under-16s.

The squad will meet up in Sheffield on Saturday, 12th April, and train at Barnsley in the build-up to the game.
