Romain Amalfitano made his return from injury for Dijon on Friday night - but couldn't inspire his side to victory.

The midfielder appeared as a 65th minute substitute as the Ligue 2 outfit lost 2-0 at Troyes.

James Tavernier was also back for Rotherham and played the whole match as the Millers beat Peterborough 1-0. Haris Vuckic was an unused substitute.

Another fit-again player was Jonas Gutierrez, but the Argentine had to watch from the bench as Norwich saw off Sunderland.

Conor Newton played for 74 minutes while Adam Campbell appeared as a 60th minute substitute as St. Mirren lost 3-0 to Celtic while Mehdi Abeid played for the first 60 minutes of Panathinaikos' 3-1 home win over Apollon Smimis.

Former Newcastle midfielder Darren Ambrose scored the visitors' consolation goal.

Shane Ferguson wasn't involved as Birmingham were beaten 2-1 by Reading.
