Willo Delivers For United Fan

Written by Newcastle Utd

Mike Williamson teamed up with Papa John's to deliver pizzas to one lucky fan on Thursday

Fans' favourite Mike Williamson gave one lucky supporter a day to remember when he teamed up with the Club's official pizza partner, Papa John's, to deliver some pizzas to their home on Thursday.

Earlier this week, Newcastle United joined forces with Papa John's to run an online competition where one of lucky fan could win the opportunity to have their pizza delivered by a mystery first team star.

Following the announcement of Williamson as the player in question, the chatter continued on social media, with Magpies' fans using the hashtag #getmiketomyhouse.

The centre-back visited the Papa John's store in West Denton to make a pizza before a Twitter reveal at 7pm that Mike would be heading to the lucky winner, David Grabhan, from Blakelaw, that evening.

Williamson, who has made more than 100 appearances in the black and white stripes, demonstrated that his skills are not only on the pitch but in the kitchen too, and made one of Papa John's classic pizzas.

He said: "I had a great time with the guys from Papa John's. It was really good fun to make a pizza and deliver it to David. I hope he enjoyed it."

Andrew Gallagher, director of marketing for Papa John's Pizza, said: "Following Newcastle's back-to-back wins against Aston Villa and Hull, Papa John's wanted to celebrate by offering this money can't buy prize.

"We would like to congratulate David on winning - we hope he enjoyed meeting one of the Club's favourite players."

Fans who haven't already signed up to Papa John's, which has six stores across the North-East, can do so ahead of the Magpies' clash with Fulham this weekend to receive the exclusive 'Score Twice Half Price' offer, where Newcastle fans get half price pizzas every time their team score twice in a match.
