Krul Won't Give Up On World Cup Dream

Tim Krul is determined to secure his place in Holland's World Cup party, despite being left out of their latest squad

Tim Krul is refusing to give up on his World Cup dream, insisting his performances in the final ten games of the season could still secure his place in Holland's party.
Newcastle United's number one could have been lining up against Tyneside teammates Loic Remy, Moussa Sissoko and Mathieu Debuchy on Wednesday evening, as the Netherlands travel to Paris to take on France in friendly action.
But Krul was surprisingly left out of the national squad, with head Louis van Gaal instead opting to call upon Ajax's Jasper Cillessen, Swansea stopper Michel Vorm and Jeroen Zoet, of PSV Eindhoven.
With the World Cup only three months away, time is running out for the 25-year-old to secure his spot on the biggest stage of all.
However, Krul is determined to do all he can to be on the plane to Brazil, and knows helping the Magpies to an impressive finish to their Barclays Premier League campaign could get him back in favour.
"It's disappointing, obviously," the five-times-capped star told nufc.co.uk about his omission from the latest squad.
"I love playing for my country and my aim is to go to Brazil in the summer; that is what I want.
"There are ten games left of this season and I have to show them (the national coaches) that I am good enough to be part of our World Cup squad.
"That is all I can do now. My own performances for Newcastle between now and the end of the season are so important.
"Playing at the World Cup is the pinnacle of any player's career. It is what you dream about as a kid and I am no different.
"I have to work hard and fight hard to get back into the squad."
