Bigi Back At Blackburn

Gael Bigirimana will make his return from injury when Newcastle's under-21s take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Monday night

Gael Bigirimana will make his return from an ankle injury when Newcastle's under-21s take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Monday (kick-off 7pm).

The England under-20 international midfielder has been sidelined since limping out of a second-string clash at Tottenham in January, but recently returned to training and has made the trip to Lancashire.

He's the only player with Barclays Premier League experience in Peter Beardsley's squad, although Michael Richardson - who scored twice against Manchester City in United's last outing at this level - and Adam Armstrong have both been unused substitutes in the top flight.

Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has remained on Tyneside after being on the bench for the first team at Hull on Saturday, meaning Jonathan Mitchell or Brendan Pearson will be between the posts.

Slovakian defender Lubo Satka almost signed for Blackburn before heading to St. James' Park. Like the Magpies, Rovers are set to name a young side for the match but could include their January loan signing from Montpellier, Bryan Dabo.

The Jack Walker Lower Tier will be open for the game, with admission prices £4 for adults and £2 concessions.

The squad is: Rolando Aarons, Adam Armstrong, Daniel Barlaser, Gael Bigirimana, Liam Gibson, Alex Gilliead, Ryan McKinnon, Jonathan Mitchell, Greg Olley, Brendan Pearson, Jonathyn Quinn, Michael Richardson, Callum Roberts, Lubo Satka, Jamie Sterry, Callum Williams.
